Nayt and I are going to be moving into a new place soon. I’m excited for the changes this will give our small little family unit. There are so many pros that listing them all will seem silly, but never-the-less, here are some: we will have an extra bedroom for crafts and guests to stay over, a dishwasher! hallelujah!, a YARD which means gardening and fun activities, more space to accomodate more than two guests at a time in our home COMFORTABLY, a washer and dryer in the basement that won’t cost $40 bucks a month to wash our clothes in…and I could go on.
So, despite the odious task of needing to pack and move things when it’s cold and potentially snowy here in Ohio, I am excited to embark upon this new journey of ownership. We’ve not had to maintain a lawn before. This could prove interesting.
The major regret I personally have in leaving the Clifton area is two-fold: we will be far away from Indian take-out (boo) and when Lauren starts at UC, it will no longer be prudent for us to invite her over. I like having my sils (sister-in-laws) over from time to time. They are fun people. And it’s been nice providing an escape from DAAP for Meg, even if she comes over just to appease me.
Hehehe.
Anyway, we hope to have moved into the new place by April 1st. So, there you go, an update from Jes!

How fun!! You’ll really enjoy the new home, that’s for sure, plus the process of moving can be really energizing, too. What I love about it is the opportunity to evaluate what is important in our day to day lives, what comforts and things are critical enough to look for and to take from place to place. It’s also intriguing to learn how quickly and thoroughly dust bunnies lodge into places you think you clean! Moving a few times as a family before you have kids really is educational, in my opinion, … or I’m just rationalizing the things I’ve learned from the dozens of moves I’ve made in my life.
I had planned to send out an updated family address list within a month of our move, so I’ll wait until around April 1 to include your new address, too.
So what city will you be in? Feel free to reply by email if you don’t want to post it on the net.
I just re-read your post … “ownership” — how wonderful!!! With all of our moves that is something that has totally eluded us, sadly. A rollling stone gathers now real estate deeds.
Yay for moving! We’re still standing firm on our offer to help – even if it’s just cheerleading and carrying brooms for me. Good luck on the lawn upkeeping, it can be a beast at times, but being outside seems to be an enjoyment of your family as well so that’ll help. And it is super neat to pick out “how everything will go” in the new place and do some practical and inexpensive decorating to “make it yours.” There is quite a bundle of joy to be found in contributing in the home-making of a house. Love ya!
